Social bookmarking: Youve heard a lot about it and maybe youve even tried it yourself a time or two. But either way, youve come to the conclusion that its a waste of time.

And yet you keep hearing the gurus brag about how much traffic they get from these sites. They talk about getting hundreds or even thousands of visitors in a very short amount of time. They warn you that social bookmarking sites and other social media sites are the future and if you dont start using these sites now, youll be left behind.

Is that true?

To be blunt: Yes.

And thats why I want you to know how to use social bookmarking sites. These sites are easy to use, you get instant traffic and the traffic is targeted and warm to your messages.

Heres how to do it:

1) Join the Top Social Bookmarking Sites

Run a search for social bookmarking sites in Google, and youll uncover plenty of sites. Youll need to focus on two types of sites: 1) the main sites (listed below) at get the most traffic and 2) those sites that are tightly focused on your niche.

Here are some the best social bookmarking sites (that you should join ASAP):

Del.icio.us
Digg.com
StumbleUpon.com
Reddit.com
Del.irio.us

2) Participate, Network, Contribute, Network

You cant just join these sites, bookmark your own pages and expect a rush of traffic.

Think of it this way: If a stranger came up to you on the street and said visit this site, would you? Maybe. Maybe not. But you certainly wouldnt feel compelled to do so.

Now what if your friend emails you and says, check out this site. Would you? Probably! And thats because you know this person and trust his judgement.

Likewise, thats why social bookmarking sites are so powerful. Namely, bookmarked pages have a better chance of being seen by thousands of eager visitors IF some of the well respected members of the community rate them as good sites first.

That means you need to network and become friends with the influential members who are in your niche. And that means you must also become one of these respected members by first voting and commenting thoughtfully on other peoples content.

3) Submit Buzz Worthy Content

Once youve networked with influential members on these sites and built up your own reputation, its time to start submitting some of your own content.

But heres the catch you cant trot out some dusty old content that can be found in a thousand other places online. It needs to be fresh, engaging and edgy. In short, it needs to be worth sharing.

Mailing Lists Can Be Very Effective In Marketing Strategy

Email campaign is a very important marketing strategy, which generally many companies tend to ignore. Either they are not aware of its effect or they are unable to use it properly. Advertising and marketing are very essential for a company to get proper sales. It’s even more important to advertise the products among the targeted customers who are actually interested in a product like yours. This is where targeted email lists or mailing lists come into picture.

Whenever you are planning to buy an emailing list or mailing list, make sure you have some points in your mind. Firstly, the email ids of that list should be active and authentic, and not of people who never use an email service.

Secondly, email addresses should be of such people who are interested in your product. For example, you cannot send product details of latest designer shoes to a woman who is more interested in jewelry. It would be a sheer waste of time to send advertising emails to irrelevant people. Hence, always send marketing emails to only those people who are interested in your product and not to those who would just delete it.

Thirdly, advertising email should contain a professional and sophisticated tone instead of casual or wild one. People do not take casual promotions seriously because they think that it must be a low profile and small company. They tend to fall for professional language that can easily convince them in believing the company to be a big corporate. So ensure that the language used in your advertising emails should be very good.

Fourthly, the subjects of such marketing emails must be very carefully given. Most of the spam filtering tools first check the content given in subject field of a particular email and decide whether email is spam or not. That is the reason why you see most of the promotional emails end up in Spam folder. The best way to avoid such scenario is to write a professional subject that does not talk about any discounts, shopping, buying or end of sale notifications.

Lastly, do not flood the email ids of the same mailing list with your promotional marketing emails very frequently. Try to maintain a good gap between the last and the present email sent. Sending such mails to people daily might annoy them, thus forcing them to mark your emails as spam. As a result, every email that lands in such a customer’s email inbox will automatically be moved to spam folder. Therefore, make sure that you give adequate gap in sending such emails to the addresses given in the mailing lists.

You will find many email lists brokers who charge you any price, depending on your targeted niche. Some brokers even provide you the facility to choose by selecting various criteria like region, telephone, geographical location, country, professional etc. This way you can get your targeted group and promoting your product in it would be fruitful. But make sure that you buy such lists from genuine brokers only.

Google Loves Backlinks From Blogger Blogs

It’s no surprise that Google gives preference to Blogger blogs when it comes to their own search engine results. However, be aware that Google also penalizes “splogs” or spammy blogs that serve no purpose other than blatant self-promotion. Through a combination of software which tags blogs with little content other than advertising and user feedback which reports spam-like blogs, Google is trying to reduce the number of its own blogs that offer no content from being indexed and ranked.

For you, the marketer, all this means is that using a bit of common sense and supplying good content will make your blog valuable and a great source of backlinks. Like other Web pages and blogs, a brand-new Blogger blog will have no Page Rank and will take some time in getting indexed and ranked. “Seasoned” Blogspot blog posts get indexed and ranked within minutes of being posted. This can be very valuable in doing market research within a given niche and to give good backlinks to new Master websites and weaker Slave pages and blogs.

Unlike many other blogs like Typepad and Wordpress, the labels or keywords you enter in the labels field are not indexed by the Google search engine. This is to prevent unnecessary duplicate content in their search results. While this may seem inconvenient (and a waste of time to fill in those fields), think again! By using blog tagging services like Technorati and MyBlogLog, those tags end up in the SERP’s through their own links, bypassing the “disallow” rule in the robots.txt file associated with your Blogspot blog labels.

Unlike Wordpress blogs, Blogger blogs can have as many affiliate links as you wish to include. For the purposes of using these blogs as Slave pages for your main website, including a bunch of affiliate links may not be the best idea. Too many affiliate links and too little content can spell trouble for your rankings. If it is your intention to use a given blog solely as an affiliate-marketing venue, avoid using it for backlinking purposes.

Like other Slave pages, Blogger blogs increase in value over time. Brand-new blogs can use some help from Squidoo lenses, Hub pages, older blogs and ezinearticles.com articles to increase their value as backlink resources for your Master page. One of the fastest ways to get a great backlink and speed up the indexing of your blog is through a craigslist.org listing that points to your new blog. This high Page Rank site confers a great deal of authority with such a backlink and can speed up the indexing of your new blog immensely.

Within the entire scheme of your Master and Slave page backlinking plan, Blogger blogs are a free, easy to use and a powerful source of quality backlinks. The key is, as always, to supply good content those readers enjoy and find useful. Your good blog posts at Blogger will get you natural backlinks if you spend the time, effort (and money, if you’ve hired a ghostwriter to write your posts) to give quality content along with your own backlinks.
