It will tell you if a page has been indexed. If you hook up with a link farm somehow, Google will not even index your site. Make sure the sites you link to do not have insane amounts of links per page, as this will not serve you well anyhow.

Free classifieds are another way to advertise your site on a budget. Many webmasters submit to these free classified sites because they cost nothing. As times passes, it is less likely your ad will be seen. The key to free classified advertising is constantly testing your campaigns. Find a good classified site, such as Craigs List, and follow their guidelines. If it works for you, use it.

Email marketing is also quite powerful. Get an autoresponder. Start a newsletter. Get visitors to subscribe somewhere on your site. Build up a targeted subscriber base. Email them a newsletter about the subject matter on your site. It is nice to have a list of prospects anxious to buy anything you recommend. Don’t ruin your reputation by recommending anything. Do include unsubscribe instructions, as it is the law. If you keep your subscribers happy, you should have no problem with this, but make sure you do it anyhow.

There are many strategies a person can use offline and online to promote a web site. Be creative and unafraid to test new ideas. Constantly experimenting, measuring the effectiveness of each campaign, will allow you to progress, and get ever more effective at promoting your website. Your website can be really simple and make big money. The key is to get targeted traffic, which can be yours by using these methods. Without traffic, you have no chance of making money.
