Website Optimization Even The Smallest Things Matter
Author : Thomas Gajdjis
Every single SEO campaign in existence sits atop some sort of website optimization. Making the most out of your website means getting the most traffic from even just a single one-page site. It is quite possible to get to the number one search result spot with just one page on your site, but it will take flawless optimization to achieve this.
There are many people that think that website optimization solely refers to the amount of keywords in the main page’s content - the articles, in other words. This could not be a bigger lie. While most people who come to your site will most likely pay a lot of attention to the article content that you have written, search engines pay attention to the whole coding package of your website. This not only includes the keyword density of the written content, but the meta tags, tags, page titles, articles, domain name, and everything in between. You could have the ugliest page on the entire internet, but if it is properly optimized then search engines are a lot more likely to pick it up.
Finding a medium between what potential traffic would be looking for and what search engines are looking for is a huge part of website optimization. Readers are looking for information, while search engines are looking for keywords in certain areas of your site. Cutting down on actual information can repel readers and potential clicks, while too little or too much of your keyword phrase can repel search engines.
Creating content that is easy to read as well as informative is the best way to optimize your website. You should also include the keyword phrase appearing in only key parts of the article. The first and last paragraphs of your article are absolute must-have spots for your keyword. Another important keyword area is the title of the article and the page title displayed at the top of the browser. The tags and meta tags you have on the article should also include the keyword with any other keywords that are relevant to your niche.
The trick to all of this is ensuring that you do not pack the keyword into your content too much, which is commonly referred to as keyword stuffing. Stuffing is the absolute bane of the SEO marketer’s existence and it will only work against you and never for you. Filling your content with your keywords too much can cause search engines to ban your site or to keep you low in the rankings. Readers will also be less inclined to enjoy the content, as it will be difficult to read between the overuse of keywords. Avoid keyword stuffing your website at absolutely all costs by paying attention to the overall density.
Website optimization also takes place off of your own domain. When promoting your site on other domains, be sure that the quality is just the same as that on your main website. This will cause the search engines to notice those pages as well, doubling your campaign’s effectiveness.
Starting your own niche website is an uphill battle. Getting real revenue from a website takes more than just a domain name and an article. Avoiding Black Hat SEO
Author : Tommy Greene
Search Engine Optimization is the new buzz phrase on the internet. This is new means for companies to win over their competition and draw more consumers to purchase their products.
Search Engine Optimization is the process by which companies get their website to rank higher on search engine pages. The higher their ranking, the more likely people will click on their link and purchase something.
Like many other things, Search Engine Optimization can be used in a good way and a bad way. The good way is referred to as white hat SEO and the bad way is referred to as black hat SEO.
If a company practices black hat SEO, they will get penalized for it. Search engine spiders can tell the difference and they will report it.
A company who practices black hat SEO will stuff or spam Meta tags. This does not really do anything to improve your rankings and it will only get you marked as a black hat practitioner.
Stuffing or spamming Meta tags used to be used in early days of the internet to improve rankings, but it is now a unapproved method that does nothing. This is when a company lists a whole bunch of key words or phrases in the Meta tag.
A white hat company will have a simple two sentence description of the page. These are legal Meta tags that will not get you penalized for black hat SEO.
A black hat SEO company will also employ the use of hidden content. There are many ways to hide content and none of them are considered to be white hat SEO practices.
A few example of hidden content may include white text on a background or using a whole bunch of key words in comments of the HTML. White hat SEO companies on the other hand will make use of quality content.
Quality content is centered on strong, related keywords and keyword phrases. The search engine will then pick up these keywords without penalizing your for black hat SEO.
Links are another important part of SEO. Black hat practitioners will do what is called Link Farming.
Link farming is when you exchange links with other websites in order to boost your rank. Search engines examine the number of links coming into your site because it is supposed to be an indicator of how popular your site is.
Through link farming, you are trying to trick the search engine into thinking your website is more popular than it is. However, they will pick up on this.
White SEO specialists on the other hand will practice what is called inbound linking. This is simply encouraging others to link to your site through quality content. The number of inbound links are a quality indication of how popular your company is.
Inbound links are encouraged through quality blogs, websites, and other services. These are really what the search engines want to see.
Black hat specialists may also create Doorway pages. These pages are also known as bridge pages, entry pages, gateway pages, jump pages, and portal pages.
These pages are designed with the sole intent to spam the search engines with certain phrases. These pages are pages that contain only keyword phrases that link to the main page.
People then search a phrase, find the door page, and are taken to the main page. Most search engines recognize these pages for what they are and penalize anyone who dares to use them.
White hat specialists will instead include the key words and phrases into SEO-friendly headings. These keywords are then legally used and repeated in such a way that the search engines pick up the keywords, but the practitioners are not penalized for it.
If your site has become penalized by Google or another search engine you will need to discover what you have done wrong. There are several things that may indicate that you have been penalized by Google.
The first is experiencing a sudden Google referral traffic drop. If they suspect you are practicing black hat SEO, they will drop you in their rankings.
You can check this by searching for your domain by name. If your domain is not number one when you search, it is likely that you have been penalized.
After you have fixed what you have done wrong you may want to do some research to find out what you can do to rectify your standing in Google, and other search engine’s rankings. White hat SEO is definitely the best way to go.

The Importance of Meta Tags in SEO
Author : Melissa Smich
A Meta tag is basically an HTML tag, whose job is to furnish data to search engines (SE) regarding the kind of information present on the webpage. The purpose of a Meta tag is to add information and steer the SE spiders. Meta tags are an important tool to search engine optimize (SEO) a website. However, the magnitude of the role Meta tags will play in improving the ranking of your website depends on the se you are targeting.
Since these tags play an important role in determining search engine rankings of your website, you should be very careful in selecting the appropriate keywords for Meta tags. It is important to use them in your title. SEs go through the text body and the title of the content, and the information there is given more importance than any tag. Thus, make sure that the body of your articles has relevant content.
A Meta tag has 3 different attributes all of which play an important role in determining the search engine ranking of a webpage:
1. Content: The purpose of the content is to provide information in name/value pair.
2. Name: This is one-half of the “name/value pair”. The name could be a keyword, author, copyright, robot or description.
3. Http Equiv: This is also the name in the “name/value” pair attributes. However, the server uses it on the MIME document header before the web browser sends the real HTML document. Commonly used http equiv. includes charset, expires and refresh.
The description and keyword tags play a very important role in SEO of your website using Meta tags. The description tag describes your page to the search engine spiders. The content of description tag is used while displaying a list of websites. The keywords help in easy identification of the page by SE spiders. Since most search engines have limitations on the number of Meta keywords they can view, you should try to make your keywords as exact and concise as possible.
The Meta keyword and description tags were introduced to make using the web easier. However, webmasters have abused these tags to such an extent that, most SEs today have de-emphasized the importance of Meta tags in ranking. Good tags can ensure effective search engine optimization for a website to an extent. For best results, you should use them with other marketing strategies and not in isolation.
