How to Team Up on Joint Ventures
Teaming up with another internet marketer on a joint venture
project is a great way to grow your business. A joint venture is
when two or more people get together to form one product. This
can take the form of a special report, an e-book, an audio
recording or even a membership website.
This is an excellent way for two or more people to promote
their services together. You will share in the work and the
profits. For example, maybe you have a website devoted to
cooking, and you know another internet marketer who happens to
be great at recording audio. The two of you can team up and
create an audio information product about cooking. Or perhaps
you know a writer and you can team up with them and create an e-
book.
Once you have an idea for a project, you will need to find
someone to team up with. Using the above example of the cooking
website, let’s say you want to team up with someone who has a
site focused on children and create an e-book featuring child-
friendly recipes. Start researching websites that focus on your
target market. Once you find a few that you like, email the
website owners and ask if they are interested in this type of
project.
You can also visit business related websites and forums. You
will get to know the members, and can find people to team up
with there. You will also more than likely be allowed to post
messages asking for partners on projects.
It is a good idea to interview several potential co-workers
before you make a decision about who you form a partnership
with. If you are not familiar with them, you may want to ask for
samples of work they have done in the past. Make sure your
personalities match, as you will be spending time together on
the project.
You will also want to make sure that everyone involved knows
exactly what type of work they will be doing for the project,
and when the deadline is. Don’t assume people will work on the
same schedule as you. You may be an overachiever, and expect a
deadline of a week and the person you are working with assumes
there is a deadline of a month. These misunderstandings can
create conflicts and negative feelings. Put everything in
writing ahead of time to avoid these problems.
Joint ventures can be a fun way to get to know other internet
marketers and collaborate on projects. You may really enjoy the
process of brainstorming together and creating something to fit
both of your target markets’ needs. Plus, you will be expanding
your market at the same time, and you’ll only have to do half
the work.
How to keep a relationship with your e-mail list
As an internet marketer, you should really be keeping two lists
for every niche you operate in. These are a buyers list, with
email addresses of people who have already bought your products,
and a prospects list, of people who have signed up for some free
content, but who have not yet bought anything. These lists need
to be handled in a totally different way. The buyers have
already demonstrated trust in you enough to buy, even if it was
a cheap report, and they need gentle handling. Always supply all
the good content you can to people on this list, and try to
build on the relationship. If you do this, then you can take
advantage of joint ventures you are offered without alienating
your subscribers, and you can also market your own new products
at no expense.
The one trap you simply must not fall into is using your list
as an excuse to pitch every affiliate program on Clickbank or
PayDotCom, even if you have never seen the products. The primary
goal with a buyers list is to retain as many subscribers as
possible, for as long as possible. When you do make a product
recommendation, make sure you have actually seen and used the
product. If you can demonstrate that you have used the product
with success, and then go on to show your list how they will
benefit from it as well, then you will have every chance of
making sales.
Your non buyers list is a different animal altogether. Most of
these will be freebie seekers who will never become customers.
Not all, however, so this is still not a free for all to promote
every affiliate product that comes on to the market. The first
choice you have to make is how to present your content. Many
marketers with a non buyers list will simply send their
subscribers emails which redirect them to a webpage. This
webpage will then have affiliate offers and contextual
advertising mixed in with the content, giving the marketer a
chance to earn even from the non buying traffic.
The best way to “sell” to your e-mail list
Your greatest asset as an internet marketer is your list of
paying customers. You should also have another list, a list of
prospects who you hope to convert into customers. Selling to
your main list of customers is difficult, and must be approached
with care. Your main goal with this list is to keep your
subscribers on it. If you can do this, a certain number of them
are bound to purchase when you hit them with a really good
offer. Your non buyers list is different. You can sell to this
list in many different ways, but one of the sneakiest is to
offer them yet another free gift, but this time one full of
links. These can be links to your own sites, or affiliate links
of proven selling products.
The freebie that you give away to do this must be of a high
enough quality to convince a subscriber to read through to the
end. You will need to give away some pretty good information,
and then you can add in the links to products which will help
the reader to carry out the instructions they have been given.
If you can produce a free ebook which will act as a reference
guide, so that the reader has to refer to it several times, so
much the better. The more desirable the products you are linking
to, especially in carrying out these instructions, the more
sales you can expect to make.
A free ebook is not the only gift you can give to make this
system work. You can send your list to a web page which is
normally behind a password protected area, by giving them a
password and link in your email. On the same page as the video
series can be links to products mentioned in the video. If the
products are desirable, and well demonstrated, it will be easy
to imagine the viewer clicking on the link, and a percentage
should buy. You can give freebies to your list, and still earn
from them.
