A New Link Building Technique Sweeping the Web
Author : Tom Greaves
Link building techniques have been part of the SEO game for a long time now, however the techniques that worked 3 years ago no longer work as well today and some not at all. You see Google are in a constant battle with spam and therefore their algorithm has to develop to take this into account. Do Google still suffer with spam attacks? Of course but in my opinion they are getting better and better.
It is no longer good enough to generate thousands of site wide links on sites such as your friends blogs, in fact evidence recently collected has shown Google giving very little credit to site wide links and links in footers, instead they are preferring links given in the general flow of content. Google sees these types of links as more beneficial as they are more likely to be editorially given.
So the big question is how do we go about getting these strong editorial links? Well the first option is the old Matt Cutts method, create great content or a great resource and the links will come. This is too simplistic and any good SEO knows that more is needed to rank for competitive terms. Blog carnivals are another great option, a link in the body of the content, anchored with your choice of keywords, great.
However, there is a method that is becoming increasingly popular and is one hundred percent white hat, this means it is fully in line with Googles guidelines and in fact has been around a while. You simply look for blogs that are relevant to your site, email the webmaster and offer to write some unique content in return for link back to your site with the anchor text of your choice.
This is a great way of link building and acts very much in the same way as guest posting. You get an optimised piece of content on a relevant domain with an anchor text of your choice in the middle of the body content. This is editorial and it is pretty much natural, a link for content. In my opinion getting links in the content of other articles and blogs is one of the best ways to link build and if you create a page for a popular blog not only will you get a great link but you will also benefit from some targeted traffic.
So when it comes to building links forget about high PR pages or site wide links, instead be thinking about natural looking links with real editorial value. This is sure to increase rank for your chosen keywords within Google and drive more qualified traffic to your pages.
